If only she and Julie met. Maybe Julia Child "hated" her blog because she thought she was again being made fun of by Americans whom she had the concept of French cooking introduced to. Well, that's an assumption. But if only, they met. That would have been great.
What Julie did to blogging
I was watching Julia and Julie. Then I searched for her Julie/Julia blog, and there it was ...still online and straight from Julie Powell. I dug more and whoa, the blog was really real as shown in the movie. SO I became more interested and dug for the blogger herself. Julie, Julie, Julie. She have made blogging a movie, specifically, her blog. She released her second book ( it was about meat butchery) already but was not a smash-hit unlike the first one which was a New York bestseller. And reading the comments of those who bought and read the second book, i saw comments saying they felt awkward reading those parts about her marriage. It was like she was with someone else and Eric and she divorced already. That's really disappointing. Many people loved the movie because Eric was very supportive, running errands for her, and putting her feet on the ground every time. Many people loved the movie and turned to love Julia Child.
What Julia did to cooking
She revolutionized French cooking. When you hear the word French cooking, surely one in a million, you'd think of sophistication, fine dining, and now after watching the movie, Julia Child. Who knew she was responsible for introducing French to our palates?
What the movie did to Meryl Streep
Julie adored Julia. Had Julia ever knew about this movie? When Meryl Streep received her Golden Globes award for her portrayal of Julia Child in the movie, she said that it was a secret way to pay tribute to a great woman (not the exact words. And true indeed. She has, a lot of times, became a vessel to many women's characters through her acting. Meryl Streep as Miranda Priestly (The Devil wears Prada), as a nun (Doubt), as Julia Child. True indeed, her acting reached out to people to show the different stories of different women in stellar performances. Hats off! And Amy Adams was honestly great in this movie too. She and Streep worked in the mvoie Doubt too but in this movie, they never worked together though they both star here. But like Julie and Julia, they did not meet.
What the movie did to blogging
The movie speaks of cooking, of marriage, and of getting a book (or the author) published. But the best part is the marriage part. You see, Julia and Julie's marriage were set on a parallel comparison during the movie. They both married nice men, they both found cooking as a way to not doing nothing, and they both got published. So the sad part of the movie was the reality of the characters' stories itself because they did not meet.
What the movie did to me
Julia, Julia, Julia. How I love to do cooking. And Julie, how I love to do blogging about cooking. It must be so relieving, relaxing, and of course, delicious. hehehe. Now if only there's a cooking machine here. I want to end this post with the two words but feel I don't deserve to since I don't do cooking. But still, I will. Bon Appétit! ;)
