What makes The Blind Side tick?

Nothing could go wrong with a movie about kindness much more when it's based on a true story. You would think that it's another football movie but Sandra Bullock's stellar performance truly complements the story's originality.


I watched the movie The Blind Side because I heard it was #2 blockbuster movie next to Avatar last Christmas season. And there I was, trying to find out why. So why then? (My own reasons)



Reason Number One

First. Michael Oher's story is a fairy tale story. Michael or Big Mike was an orphan, abandoned, alone, scared, and had no bright future. Leigh Anne Toughy (Bullock) took him in, clothed him, fed him, educated him, and loved him. But what sets him apart from Cinderella is that Michael can play football... very well. Not that Cinderella can't play ;) But he has this talent that makes people doubt Miss Toughy's kindness to him.

Reason Number Two

Second. The Bed! At the scene when Leigh Ann gave Michael his own room in her own house, we thought Leigh Anne is finally gonna shed those tears. But she didn't and that's what made it more intriguing. 

Leigh Anne: What? You never had a room before?

Michael: No.

Leigh Anne: Then what?

Michael: A bed.

Reason Number Three

Third. Football. 


So there. This movie by the way is Sandra Bullock's highest grossing film in her career, next to The Proposal. It's as if she returned with revenge. Just kidding. She hasn't been making movies these past few years and to see her now, with very convincing portrayals, and with movies widely accepted. Welcome back Sandra Bullock!
